Seagate Momentus 7200.2 120GB Hard Drive

Strengths: Speed, Quiet, 5-year warranty

Weakness: Occasional soft clicking sound

This Seagate 7200rpm drive was an upgrade to the 80GB 5400rpm drive that came with my Dell Inspiron 1520 notebook. It is much faster loading Vista than the Toshiba hard drive it replaced. I don't notice any increase in heat from the faster speed.

Seagate ST9120823AS

Strengths: Fast, large capacity, quiet, long warranty, low heat

Weakness: None

Love it, love it, love it! I used this hard drive to replace the Hitachi 40GB hard drive in my PS3. The Seagate hard drive is a lot faster than the Hitachi. It took me less than one hour to download NCAA 09 demo with the Seagate and with the Hitachi it took over 3 hours. The game and movie load times are also a lot faster than the old drive. The Seagate has a lot more storage capacity so this should last a long time. The Seagate hard drive was very quiet; I could not tell it was running. Seagate’s have a 5 year warranty compared to other manufactures. The Seagate drive did not get hot; it put out very little heat.

Large capacite at a great speed!

Strengths: Large capacity, fast access speeds

Weakness: Moderate vibration when at full load

I picked up this model to replace a Seagate 5400 RPM drive that came with a new laptop purchase. Compared to the week I used the original hard drive, and the couple of years that I used another 5400 RPM hard drive in my previous laptop, I have definitely noticed a speed increase with this model. This hard drive gives a much more smoother experience overall.

The only downside I noticed was some moderate vibration when I was stressing the hard drive at full load. If the hard drive was always like this it would be unacceptable, but I only saw it for a couple minutes when installing Windows and when actually testing the hard drive.

speed upgrade

Strengths: fast access, long warranty, quiet, low heat

Weakness: slightly more vibration can be felt through the palm rest on Thinkpad X61 Tablet, whereas Seagate 5400rpm hard drives show no tangible vibration

Installed this hard drive in a Thinkpad X61 Tablet to replace the original Seagate 5400rpm hard drive. No problem encountered. This hard drive is compatible with the Active Protection and is very quiet compared to other 7200rpm hard drives (particularly the hitachi one I had before)
